Oh Pish Posh!

Charlessa makes it sound like she was grumpy or something. Huh! If that's her idea of heing taciturn or unsociable, then I've gotten myself into something even better than I thought! (And that's a pretty tall order!)

It was pure pleasure - different than curling up on a sofa with hot tea for a couple hours of talk - but not less, not in the least. Maybe that's part of what helps keep people together year after year - a joy of just being around the other! It doesn't take a date like a play, dinner or movie, nor some special thing like cards or flowers (though those are REALLY nice to have!). Just being around someone is wonderful and makes the day shine!

Having a good time, all the time is great, but can't possibly be permanent. What makes life so wonderful that people will stay together through arguments, troubles, sickness and everything else, isn't just that they have fun together when they go do things - no one can do things all the time! It has to be something more consistent and lasting that keeps people together. Being happy and feeling good for no other reason than you're around the other person, is one of those things!

I got to help out a little (took care of those men-are-from-Mars-I've-got-to-do-something-to-help feelings :^) and then got to read, listen to music, drink tea, and look at Charlessa. Hmmmm, I'm not seeing a downside here!! It wasn't a 'doing something' fun time, but if just being around her makes my day glow like that, then maybe doing something isn't always necessary.

Though it is fun!

:^) Not needed! The sentence is totally true with or without the either! All the good things just seem to be so much better, and all the lousy things seem to have the teeth taken out of them, whenever we're around them.

Like a country song says, "There's a difference between livin' and livin' well!" Living with them is definitely the "Living Well" sort of life!
