The Blessings of a Good Wife

Those wives are good to have around. I think I'll keep my wife for a few more centuries if she's up for it too.

You would think that someone who is shelling out tons of money for a new house would be concerned with the contract that determines so much. You'd think.

We're thinking of trying to get a house, and have even gone so far as to start getting the contract together. Charlessa, bless her, wanted to do something silly like actually reading it ahead of time. Who cares about earnest money being non-refundable, or being on the hook for old HOA dues, or repairs to be made to major problems before purchase, or deadlines on responding at different places?!?! I mean really! Why can't we just sign and initial contracts without going to all that boring stuff like studying them.

Sigh. That would be something like reason 42,138 that I love her and I'm glad we're married. I've lost track.

May I brag on my wife for a bit?

Aside from her wisdom and brilliance in all sorts of regular, every-day life stuff, she's good at programming too! While some of you reading this may not understand the implications of that statement, any programmers out there will appreciate. What an incredibly . . . "sexy" is the only thing I can come up with right now . . . sort of thing about a woman! Not only is she beautiful, but she knows how to program too!!!

I was working on my C++ class homework and they had a simple little thing, get the current hour, minute and second from the C++ time method. It's the most retarded sort of thing I can think of - calling "time(NULL)" returns the number of seconds since Jan 1st, 1970. !Ahhhhh!

I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to do this. Charlessa walks up and says "If you mod the total seconds by 3600, won't that return the seconds since the last hour? You can get the seconds and minutes from that by dividing and modding by 60."

It took 30 minutes for her to explain to me exactly how that worked out, but there it was! In only 4 or 5 lines of code, I had broken out the hour, minute, and second of the current time. Yeah, I'm happy to have found such a wonderful woman!

All you guys out there can just settle for second best!
